LaurelWind Cavaliers

We commissioned a portrait of our Cavaliers with a well-known local artist, Jennifer Black, whose work we have admired for years.  We called this "Diego and the Show Team", and we just love it!  We will have this portrait to remind us of our lovely brood as they are today for our whole lives! LaurelWind Cavaliers

We are a small Cavalier King Charles Spaniel show breeder located in historic Charleston, South Carolina.  Our Cavaliers live with us as members of the family in our home, and sometimes we think they own it, not us!  We definitely know that they own the bed, and they let us sleep in a little corner of it every night.

Our journey into the Cavalier world began early in 2004 when we found "Diego", my son's pet Cavalier.  It took about a week to decide that you just can't have one!  When Sophie came, we worked to train and show Sophie - and so began Sophie's show adventure!  With a great show team and Sophie, we found ourselves planning for LaurelWind after just a few months!  

As Sophie matured, so has our love of this fabulous and beautiful breed.  Watch us grow!  Our goal is to produce exceptional puppies and have a positive impact on the breed here in the US.  We will strive only to breed puppies that meet all Breed Standards for health, temperament and conformation.  See the Breed Standard to find out more about it!

Our Breeding Program

Since we breed for ourselves, our breeding program is focused on producing Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies with excellent conformation, temperament and health.  Our goal is to be able to show our puppies, and so we are very careful in all breeding decisions.  We may work on a breeding for months before it actually happens!  All of our breeding stock is health tested for eyes, hips, patellas and hearts annually, and will not be bred if any health issues are found.
